Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has announced the plans to draw lessons from Iran’s military infrastructure strategy as it develops underground facilities to house weapons, drones, and other defense systems.

Speaking after a military live-fire exercise, Vučić said Serbia intends to strengthen the protection of its defense assets by constructing underground shelters and storage facilities, The Caspian Post reports via TASS.

The Serbian leader said that Iran’s approach to safeguarding military equipment during recent confrontations with the United States and Israel demonstrated the advantages of underground infrastructure. He noted that Iran had moved key launch systems and production facilities below ground, allowing them to remain protected while maintaining operational capabilities.

Vučić also revealed that Serbia plans to manufacture tens of thousands of drones in the coming years, underscoring the need for secure storage and deployment infrastructure.

The announcement follows earlier statements from the Serbian president that the country will significantly expand military drone production and establish specialized unmanned systems units within its armed forces.
