Iran has sharply condemned recent US airstrikes on its territory, accusing Washington of violating both the United Nations Charter and a memorandum aimed at ending the conflict between the two countries.
In a statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry denounced the strikes carried out on June 28 early morning, describing them as a serious breach of international law and a violation of commitments made under the ceasefire agreement reached between Tehran and Washington, The Caspian Post reports via Iran's foreign ministry.
According to the ministry, the attacks violated Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of states, as well as Article 1 of the Memorandum of Understanding on ending the conflict.
"The actions demonstrate that the United States places no value on its obligations," the statement said, criticizing Washington for what Tehran described as a disregard for international commitments.
Iran also stressed that it would continue to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, which recognizes the inherent right of self-defense.
