The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry stated that US President Donald Trump has deliberately ignored his own director of national intelligence, who confirmed that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon, to justify his unlawful attack on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities.

“When, in his persistent effort to justify America’s unlawful attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, the President of the United States of America, Donald John Trump, chooses to ignore the March 2025 testimony of his own DNI before Congress-affirming that ‘THE IC CONTINUES TO ASSESS THAT IRAN IS NOT BUILDING A NUCLEAR WEAPON,’” Esmaeil Baqaei wrote in a post on his X account on Monday night, The Caspian Post reports citing Iranian media.

Instead, Trump “leans on the personal analysis of an Iranian citizen from 2022,” Baqaei said, adding that the US president “exposes the political, not factual, nature of his claims.”

Iran has consistently maintained that it is not seeking nuclear weapons in line with a fatwa (religious decree) issued by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The United States launched massive airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities on June 22, in the midst of an Israeli-launched war on the country, on the pretext of preventing Iran from building nuclear weapons.

Iran forced Israel and the US to end the war on June 24 through its powerful missile strikes against Israeli targets in the occupied territories.
