Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan Discuss Prospects for Expanding Military Cooperation

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, has met with his Kazakh counterpart, Colonel General Dauren Kossanov, in Almaty to discuss ways to deepen bilateral military cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on key issues of mutual interest, focusing on defense strategy, regional stability, and security cooperation between Baku and Astana, The Caspian Post reports via the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

The talks also covered the current state and future prospects of collaboration in the military-technical and military-education fields.

Both ministers emphasized that Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan relations are rooted in friendship and brotherhood, noting their shared commitment to strengthening defense ties and enhancing practical cooperation in the years ahead.

Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have finalized their military cooperation plan for 2026. The signing ceremony took place during Hasanov's official visit to Kazakhstan.

Kossanov awarded Hasanov the medal “For Contribution to the Development of International Cooperation” in recognition of his efforts to strengthen defense ties between the two nations.
