Manchester has hosted a vibrant reception celebrating Kazakhstan Republic Day, drawing diplomats, UK parliamentarians, local officials, business leaders, and media representatives.
The event was organized by Abid Latif Chohan, Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Greater Manchester, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Guests were welcomed with traditional Kazakh music and a curated display of national souvenirs, alongside modern exhibits highlighting Kazakhstan’s tourism appeal and investment potential - a blend of heritage and opportunity that set the tone for the evening.
Among the notable attendees were British MPs Afzal Khan, Andrew Gwynne, and Deputy Lord Mayor of Manchester Shaukat Ali. Consuls general from Romania, Spain, Pakistan, and Iraq also represented the diplomatic community.
Aidar Mardenov, Counselor at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the UK, emphasized the importance of bolstering Kazakhstan-UK cooperation at the regional level, noting the strong potential for expanded trade and investment between Kazakhstan and Greater Manchester.
MP Afzal Khan echoed this sentiment, saying Kazakhstan’s stable economy, strategic location, and favorable investment climate offer “extensive opportunities for Manchester’s business community.”
Guests also commended Honorary Consul Abid Latif Chohan for his dedicated efforts in strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and Greater Manchester.
The event underscored the rising interest of UK political and business circles in deeper engagement with Kazakhstan - with promising prospects in trade, investment, education, and cultural exchange.
Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan and the EU will review 10 years of enhanced partnership at an upcoming Brussels meeting.
