Drone Attack Hits Kazakh Tanker Matilda Near CPC Terminal

The tanker Matilda, chartered by Kazakhstan’s Kazmortransflot, has been attacked by a drone near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) infrastructure.

The attack caused an explosion, but no subsequent fire occurred. All crew members remained unharmed, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

The tanker was scheduled to load Kazakh oil at the CPC terminal on January 18, 2026.

In late December 2025, a drone strike damaged a building at the CPC marine terminal near Novorossiysk. Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy condemned the attack as unacceptable and decided to urgently redirect oil export volumes to alternative routes.
