A powerful gas explosion has shaken a residential building in Kazakhstan, leaving multiple people injured, including police officers.
The incident occurred in the city of Shakhtinsk in the Karaganda region, where a gas cylinder triggered a gas-air mixture blast inside an apartment, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, emergency crews arrived at the scene within just four minutes of receiving the alert.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that furniture and household items had caught fire following the explosion. The blaze quickly spread but was later brought under full control.
At least eight people were injured in the incident, including five police officers. All victims were promptly transported to medical facilities for treatment.
Emergency teams successfully extinguished the fire, which affected an area of around 40 square meters. Authorities are now working to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the explosion.
