A large tree fell in Almaty, Kazakhstan, narrowly avoiding pedestrians and damaging several parked vehicles.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Bogenbai Batyr and Begalin streets in the southern capital. Witnesses said the tree suddenly collapsed, with people on the street managing to jump out of the way just in time, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
However, branches from the fallen poplar tree struck parked cars, leaving visible scratches on the bodywork. The collapse also damaged nearby power lines.
No injuries have been reported so far. The Almaty Emergency Situations Department has been contacted for further details.
The incident comes shortly after a separate tragedy in Shymkent, where a fourth-grade pupil was killed by a falling tree branch, prompting condolences from local officials and renewed attention to urban tree safety.
