Former Mayor Takes Top Role at Kazakhstan's Samruk-Kazyna

Gabidulla Abdrakhimov, former Shymkent mayor, has been appointed Deputy Chairman for Operations at Kazakhstan's Samruk-Kazyna Construction company.

Born in 1975 in South Kazakhstan, Abdrakhimov holds degrees in economics and management, including a Master of Public Administration (MPA) through the Bolashak Scholarship Program, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

He has held senior leadership roles in the civil service, Presidential Administration, and government, and served two terms as Shymkent’s mayor (2015-2017, 2018-2019).

Before this appointment, he was Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports until 2021. The company clarified he is not a member of the Management Board of Directors.
