Kazakhstan’s Greco-Roman wrestlers have delivered a confident performance at the prestigious Yasar Dogu, Vehbi Emre and Hamit Kaplan International Wrestling Tournament in Antalya, Türkiye, bringing home four medals and a podium finish in the team standings.
Yusuf Ashrapov (72 kg) and Bagdat Sabaz (67 kg) powered their way to gold, each defeating Turkish rivals in the finals to top their weight categories. Their victories highlighted Kazakhstan’s growing strength in Greco-Roman wrestling on the international stage, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Bronze medals were added by Yerkebulan Ardakov (63 kg) and Rakhat Berzhanov (97 kg), rounding out a successful medal haul for the national team. With a total of 104 points, Kazakhstan placed third overall in the team rankings.
Kazakhstan’s women wrestlers did not take part in this year’s tournament, while the freestyle wrestling competition is set to begin in the coming days. The country’s freestyle program has also shown promise recently, with Rizabek Aitmukhan winning silver at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh last November-setting the tone for more strong results ahead.
