Heavy Rains Turn Deadly as Man Pulled Into Pipe in Kazakhstan

A fatal incident has been reported in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where a man died after being swept into a drainage system during heavy rainfall.

The victim was pulled into a pipe connected to an aryk-a small irrigation canal commonly used across Central Asia-amid intense downpours, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Municipal workers found the man’s body while clearing blockages in the drainage system.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that a criminal case has been opened. Preliminary findings suggest the man was under the influence of alcohol, lost his balance, and fell into the canal, where he sustained fatal injuries.
