Kazakh President Demands Concrete Roadmap for Economic Overhaul

Kazakh Presidential Aide and Press Secretary Ruslan Zheldibay has said that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev directed Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov to submit a detailed and actionable plan outlining specific steps for the implementation of the government’s economic reform program.

The president set a firm deadline for the plan’s submission by the end of the current workweek, underscoring the urgency of accelerating reforms aimed at promoting sustainable economic development for the benefit of the wider population, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

In his directive, President Tokayev identified key areas of focus for the Government, including the introduction of amendments to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), improving the national investment climate, and ensuring macroeconomic stability.

“The fundamental principles of the government’s economic policy are in line with Kazakhstan’s strategic objectives and take into account current global market conditions and evolving economic trends,” President Tokayev stated.

The president’s call to action reflects his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the reform program delivers tangible results and addresses the socioeconomic needs of the country.

In a related development, President Tokayev recently signed into law the ratification of the Migration Cooperation Agreement with Armenia, highlighting Kazakhstan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regional partnerships and cooperation.
