Kazakh President Tokayev Hails Huge Potential for Cooperation within SCO

Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev received SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev.

Tokayev was briefed about the current activities of the SCO and the priority areas of cooperation, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

Tokayev pointed out the uniqueness of the Organization, hailing its huge potential in political, economic and cultural areas of cooperation. According to him, special attention is placed to ensure regional and global security,

The head of state highlighted the importance of further improving the Organization’s activity, intensifying ties with international groupings as well as promoting Kazakhstan’s SCO initiative on World Unity for Just Peace, Harmony and Development.

In accordance with the decision of the Council of the SCO Heads of State, Nurlan Yermekbayev assumed the position of the SCO Secretary-General starting from January 1, 2025.
