Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has kicked off his working trip to Kyzylorda by visiting the new terminal of Korkyt Ata International Airport.
During the visit, President Tokayev inspected the airport’s operations, including domestic and international flights, check-in and screening areas, border and customs control points, the waiting hall, and the automatic baggage handling system, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The modern terminal, inaugurated last November, was built with 16.6 billion tenge in private investment and 4.3 billion tenge in local funding for utilities. Passenger traffic has surged from 300,000 to 500,000 per year.
Designed to meet ICAO and IATA standards, the airport currently operates 29 weekly flights through Air Astana, FlyArystan, and Qazaq Air. A new control tower and administrative-technical building are under construction near KazAeroNavigatsia’s terminal.
Officials expect the upgraded airport to enhance the region’s transport infrastructure, tourism potential, and overall investment appeal.
