Kazakh Students Triumph at International Economics Olympiad 2025 in Greece

The final of the International Economics Olympiad (IEO) 2025 has taken place at the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia, Greece, where Kazakh students achieved remarkable success.

The Olympiad brought together 128 of the brightest students from 28 countries, chosen from more than 100,000 participants worldwide through national selection rounds. Each country was represented by a team of five winners, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

Kazakhstan's team stood out, winning four medals in total.

Batyrkhan Mukhtarkhan won the gold medal and secured overall first place, outperforming participants from the USA, Canada, China, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, Greece, and others.

Elzhan Zamanbekov and Nurnanym Mukhamedzhan both took home silver medals.

Ayim Zhubatkan won the bronze medal.

The Olympiad featured several stages with theoretical and practical challenges in economics and finance, testing not only deep subject knowledge but also real-world application skills.

Ancient Olympia-the birthplace of the Olympic Games-provided a symbolic and inspiring backdrop. Participants combined academic excellence with cultural discovery, visiting archaeological sites and the historic Olympic stadium.

Kazakhstan’s delegation received personal congratulations from Timur Sultangozhin, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Greece, who praised the students’ preparation and noted that their achievement strengthens Kazakhstan’s international academic reputation.

This victory comes shortly after another achievement: Team Kazakhstan also earned five medals at the 55th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO-2025) in France.
