Kazakhstan Aims to Keep Inflation Below 10% Through Year-End

Kazakhstan’s Government and National Bank have been tasked with keeping annual inflation below 10% through the end of 2026, following a directive from Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

Bektenov said coordinated efforts by the Government and the National Bank had helped ease inflationary pressures, The Caspian Post reports, citing Qazinform.

Annual inflation slowed to 9.3% over the first nine months of the year.

“This year's main objective is to keep it below the 10-percent level,” Bektenov said.

The prime minister also highlighted an improvement in Kazakhstan’s balance of payments. Faster export growth in the first half of 2026 helped the country record a current account surplus of $2.4 billion, compared with a deficit of $3.6 billion in the same period last year.

He emphasized that Kazakhstan’s economic growth was becoming more balanced, creating conditions for further expansion of the country’s productive capacity.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin said annual inflation had eased to 9.3% in September, down from 9.8% in August.
