Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Sweden, Olzhas Suleimenov, held discussions with Andreas Norlén, the Speaker of the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament), during a traditional meeting of the Head of Parliament with diplomatic corps representatives, The Caspian Post reports citing Kazinform.
The parties discussed prospects for deepening interparliamentary cooperation, exchanging visits, and expanding interaction between the parliamentarians of Kazakhstan and Sweden on international platforms, including the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA).
Speaker Norlén expressed interest in enhancing interparliamentary ties with the Central Asian region, which remains important for Northern Europe, including through the Sweden - Central Asia Friendship Group.
In mid-December, Ambassador Suleimenov had a meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, Maria Malmer Stenergard. The discussions focused on key areas of bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the need to enhance political dialogue, facilitate high-level visits, strengthen trade, economic, and investment ties, and expand the legal framework for collaboration.
