More than 1,500 IT specialists from 30 countries have applied for residence permits in Kazakhstan through the country’s digital nomad program, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said.
Speaking at the AI & Digital Bridge 2026 international forum in Astana, Bektenov highlighted Kazakhstan’s efforts to attract international technology professionals and develop its digital economy, according to Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The prime minister also outlined several major technology projects currently underway in the country.
Construction has begun on QAZBOT, described as Kazakhstan’s first production complex for robotic systems.
Another major initiative is the development of Alatau City as a fully digital city. Bektenov said that technologies and digital solutions tested in Alatau City are expected to be introduced in other regions of Kazakhstan.
The projects are part of Kazakhstan’s broader push to expand its technology sector, attract international digital talent and accelerate the adoption of advanced digital solutions across the country.
