Kazakhstan’s newly appointed Ambassador to Hungary Anel Bakytbekkyzy has officially begun her diplomatic mission after presenting her letters of credence to Hungarian President András Bálint Baka at Sándor Palace.
During the ceremony, Bakytbekkyzy conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Hungarian president, Qazinform News Agency reports.
The talks focused on strengthening Kazakhstan-Hungary strategic partnership, with particular attention to political dialogue and expanding practical cooperation in trade, investment, culture, education and humanitarian affairs.
Both sides emphasized that relations between the two countries are based on traditionally friendly ties and historical connections between their peoples. They also highlighted the importance of advancing bilateral cooperation through concrete projects and joint initiatives.
Particular attention was given to the implementation of mutually beneficial projects and preparations for upcoming high-level and highest-level visits between Kazakhstan and Hungary.
The sides also discussed plans for initiatives marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Hungary in 2027.
The talks covered international and regional developments, including Kazakhstan-EU relations and cooperation within the Central Asia-European Union format. Both sides pointed to opportunities to strengthen trade, investment, transport and logistics links between Central Asia and Europe.
Bakytbekkyzy described Hungary as one of Kazakhstan’s close and reliable partners in the European Union and expressed her readiness to further promote bilateral cooperation, including through people-to-people diplomacy.
The Kazakh ambassador also briefed President Baka on institutional transformations underway in Kazakhstan in 2026.
These include the entry into force of the new Constitution, the establishment of the Kazakhstan Khalyk Kenesi, the creation of the position of Vice-President and the elections to the Qurultay held on August 23, 2026.
President Baka, in turn, reaffirmed Hungary’s readiness to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new opportunities in trade, economic and investment cooperation.
Following the ceremony, Bakytbekkyzy held separate meetings with Klára Breuer, State Secretary of Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs responsible for bilateral relations, and György Kerekes, Head of the Directorate for Social and International Relations at the Office of the Hungarian President.
The meetings focused on the current state of Kazakhstan-Hungary relations and prospects for further developing their strategic partnership.
