Kazakhstan has deployed an AI-powered robot dog for law enforcement duties for the first time, using the technology to help identify offenders during large public events in the Karaganda Region.

The robot dog was tested during Metallurgist's Day celebrations in Balkhash and Temirtau, which attracted more than 115,000 visitors, The Caspian Post reports via Interfax.

More than 1,000 police officers were assigned to provide security, with the AI-equipped robot dog serving as a key technological assistant integrated with police information databases.

Police said the technology helped identify four individuals during the operation, including a man wanted for failing to pay child support, two state debtors, and a previously convicted man who violated court-imposed restrictions requiring him to remain at home. All were dealt with in accordance with the law.

Police officers also focused on child safety during the crowded celebrations. Police successfully reunited 87 lost children with their parents.
