KTZ Express, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, has transported lentils produced in Kazakhstan’s Akmola region to India via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor.

According to the company’s press service, the shipment was sent from Akkol station to India’s Mundra Port using a multimodal route, The Caspian Post reports, citing rail-news.kz.

In the first stage, the cargo was transported by rail from Akkol to the Port of Aktau. The containers were then carried across the Caspian Sea to the Port of Alat in Azerbaijan.

From Alat, the shipment continued by rail to Georgia’s Port of Poti before being transported by sea to Mundra Port in India.

The Akmola region is one of Kazakhstan’s key centers for lentil production and processing. Rising production volumes have contributed to the expansion of export markets, with India emerging as one of the most promising destinations for Kazakh lentils.

The shipment comes amid growing production and export potential for Kazakhstan’s agricultural products. Kazakhstan currently ranks sixth globally in lentil exports.

According to the Agriculture Ministry, Kazakhstan harvested a record 1 million tonnes of grain legume crops in 2025, marking a 56% increase from the previous year.

The use of the Middle Corridor to export Kazakh lentils expands opportunities for domestic producers to enter South Asian markets while supporting the development of new export destinations.
