Kazakhstan Investigates Graves Found Near Animal Dump Site

A disturbing discovery in southern Kazakhstan has raised serious concerns over sanitary standards and burial practices.

In the city of Taraz, a working commission from the regional council uncovered fresh human graves located near with a biothermal pit used for animal disposal, The Caspian Post reports via Orda.kz.

The inspection was carried out as part of a broader review of veterinary and sanitary facilities. Regional council deputy Zhanar Burkitbayeva said the team was assessing biosecurity conditions when they came across the unexpected burial sites.

The graves were found close to an area designated for the disposal of livestock remains, prompting immediate concerns about compliance with health regulations and whether proper authorization had been obtained.

“This raises serious questions about sanitary standards, safety, and the existence of the necessary permits,” the deputy noted.

Authorities and specialists are now examining how the burials appeared at the site and reviewing documentation related to the facility. The issue is expected to be formally discussed at an upcoming session of the regional council.
