Kazakhstan has opened a new export route to Kyrgyzstan, allowing shipments of 15,000-20,000 tons of fuel oil per month.

The Kazakh Ministry of Energy said the exported fuel oil can be used by Kyrgyz refineries as feedstock for deeper processing into refined petroleum products, including AI-92 gasoline and Euro 4 and Euro 5 diesel fuel. It may also be supplied to Kyrgyzstan's combined heat and power (CHP) plants during the 2026-2027 heating season, The Caspian Post reports via Sputnik Kazakhstan.

In addition, Kazakhstan confirmed that it received a request from Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Energy earlier this month for fuel supplies. The request is currently under review, with officials saying any decision will be made in line with Kazakhstan's national interests.

The planned exports are expected to strengthen energy cooperation between the two neighboring countries while assisting Kyrgyzstan to secure fuel supplies ahead of the winter season.
