Kazakhstan and Pakistan have taken a major step toward expanding cooperation in healthcare education by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to train future doctors and nurses in line with international standards.

Supported by Kazakhstan's Ministry of Healthcare, the agreement was signed between Astana Medical University and the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund (PEEF), strengthening academic and scientific ties between the two countries, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

The agreement was discussed during a meeting between Kazakhstan's Minister of Healthcare Akmaral Alnazarova and Pakistan's Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar, who explored new opportunities for collaboration in medical education.

"We view international cooperation as one of the most important tools for training specialists of the new generation," Alnazarova said, noting that Kazakhstan's medical universities are expanding global partnerships, strengthening research, and launching joint projects with leading international institutions.

The initiative builds on President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's decision to provide a humanitarian grant to the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund, describing it as a milestone in the growing strategic partnership between the two countries and a catalyst for deeper cooperation in education, science, and healthcare.

The new MoU will expand existing collaboration between Astana Medical University and Pakistan's leading medical universities and clinics. It provides for the development of joint medical education programs, student and faculty exchanges, collaborative research projects, expert cooperation, and advanced training opportunities for healthcare professionals.

Alnazarova said that Astana Medical University’s modern clinical facilities, experienced faculty, and strong international partnerships will help prepare highly qualified medical specialists who meet the best global standards.

The agreement follows broader efforts by Kazakhstan and Pakistan to strengthen cooperation in higher education, scientific research, and human capital development.
