Kazakhstan is taking a major step toward modernizing its transport infrastructure by adopting advanced Polish bridge design technologies and digital engineering solutions.

The Kazakhstan Highway Research Institute (KazdorNII) has expanded cooperation with leading Polish organizations to improve bridge design, strengthen technical standards, and accelerate the digital transformation of infrastructure projects, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

A key partnership has been established with Poland's Road and Bridge Research Institute (Instytut Badawczy Dróg i Mostów). The two sides will jointly conduct research, launch pilot projects, and develop technical standards for standardized bridge structures tailored to Kazakhstan's unique climate, geological conditions, and operational requirements.

KazdorNII has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Polish engineering firm Mosty Gdańsk Sp. z o.o. to introduce Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies into bridge development. The cooperation will cover digital modeling, bridge design, engineering expertise, and the implementation of cutting-edge digital engineering solutions.

The adoption of BIM technology is expected to significantly improve design accuracy, reduce documentation errors, and speed up the delivery of major infrastructure projects while lowering costs.

Beyond design, the partnership will focus on modern bridge inspection techniques, structural health monitoring systems, improved asset management throughout a bridge's lifecycle, and specialized training programs for engineers and technical experts.

Kazakhstan's Transport Ministry says the collaboration will help integrate international best practices into the country's infrastructure sector, making future bridges safer, more durable, and better suited to local conditions.
