Kazakhstan ranked 66th in the 2024 Global IQ Index, with an average IQ of 97.27, reflecting a slight increase of 0.01 points compared to the previous year. The country ranked between Egypt (65th) and Nepal (67th), The Caspian Post reports citing Kazinform News Agency.
The study, based on tests taken by 1,393,066 people worldwide, shows big differences between regions. “The average IQ by country seems to be generally higher in East Asia. Close to average in Europe, Western Asia, Oceania, North America and North Africa. And below average in Central and Southern Africa, and Latin America,” according to the researchers. The updated rank places China as number one with an average IQ of 107.43. Iran (106.63), South Korea (106.57), Japan (106.54), and Singapore (105.25) follow in the top five. Russia (103.31), Mongolia (103.13), Australia (102.67), Armenia (102.64), and Spain (102.37) complete the top ten. Russia and Armenia showed the biggest improvements, with their scores increasing by 2.67 and 2.77 points.
According to the data, the global average IQ is 100. Experts pointed out that IQ scores in most countries (82.45%) changed very little from last year. “One of the main reasons for this is China, which alone represents about 18% of the world’s population. China balances out many countries with an average IQ below 100 due to its very high average IQ score (107.43) and its large population,” experts also noted.
Earlier, it was reported that 21 higher education institutions in Kazakhstan ranked among the world’s best universities and are implementing around 245 joint educational and dual-degree programs.
