Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on what he described as the successful completion of elections to Russia’s ninth-convocation State Duma.

In his message, Tokayev said the vote represented a significant development in Russia’s social and political life, The Caspian Post reports, citing Akorda.

He added that the election results reflected broad support for Putin’s strategic course focused on safeguarding Russia’s long-term national interests.

Tokayev said he expected the newly elected lawmakers to take effective steps and make decisions aimed at improving citizens’ welfare and enhancing Russia’s potential as a global power.

He also pointed to interparliamentary ties as an important element of the allied relationship between Kazakhstan and Russia.

According to Tokayev, deputies of Kazakhstan’s Qurultay and members of the Russian parliament will continue working together to expand multifaceted cooperation and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Kazakh president wished Putin continued success in his state activities for the prosperity of the Russian Federation.
