Kazakhstan Ranks Among Top Five Hottest Travel Spots for Chinese Tourists

Kazakhstan has been named one of the top five fastest-growing international hotel booking destinations for Chinese tourists.

The ranking, based on data from major Chinese online travel platform Tongcheng Travel, highlights Kazakhstan’s growing appeal during China’s recent eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, one of the busiest travel periods of the year, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Other countries on the top five list include Saudi Arabia, Egypt, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates, all seeing a surge in bookings from China amid a strong rebound in outbound tourism.

China has witnessed a doubling in long-haul group travel this year, with hotel bookings rising significantly across Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Kazakhstan, in particular, has stood out as a key destination in the region.

Acting Chairman of the Board at Kazakh Tourism Daniel Serzhanuly said that over 675,000 Chinese tourists visited Kazakhstan in the first nine months of 2025-up from 655,000 in the same period last year. This growth is attributed to simplified visa procedures, the launch of new direct flights, and active destination marketing.

Kazakhstan is also attracting significant online attention, with as many as 430,000 daily searches on China’s Baidu search engine. Interest is highest in Guangdong, Zhejiang, Beijing, Shandong, and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XIAR).

Beyond leisure travel, Kazakhstan is also gaining ground in the medical tourism sector, having welcomed more than 80,000 international medical tourists since the beginning of the year. The country is increasingly positioning itself as a regional hub for healthcare, wellness, and recovery services.

With its strategic location, improved connectivity, and expanding tourism offerings, Kazakhstan is cementing its role as a key destination for Chinese travelers seeking both cultural experiences and medical services in the heart of Eurasia.
