Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed the law ratifying the Protocol on Water and Health to the 1992 UNECE Convention on Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes.
The protocol, adopted in 1999, aims to protect human health by promoting safe water management, sanitation, and prevention of water-related diseases, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Kazakhstan’s accession will allow the country to implement global best practices, access modern water treatment technologies, develop early warning systems, and strengthen public health and emergency response measures.
