Rail freight transportation between Kazakhstan and member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) has increased by 10%, approaching 40 million tons, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
Addressing the 13th OTS Summit in Ankara, Tokayev said that strengthening partnerships in transport and logistics remained one of the key priorities, The Caspian Post reports, citing Qazinform.
He highlighted the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route in ensuring connectivity across the Turkic World.
“In nine months of 2026, cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor increased by 30%, while transit shipments had grown by 90%,” the Kazakh president said.
Tokayev also noted that road freight transportation had risen by 20%, reaching 6.5 million tons.
He added that Kazakhstan planned to introduce a special programme aimed at expanding the country's transit potential.
The president stressed that modernizing logistics infrastructure and seaports along the Middle Corridor remained a priority for Kazakhstan.
At the same time, he pointed out that other transport and logistics routes, including the North-South Corridor and the Belt and Road Initiative, also continued to offer significant benefits and efficiency for the country.
