Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced the preliminary results of the country’s first elections to the new unicameral Qurultay, held on August 23.

CEC Secretary Shavkhat Utemisov said 12,623,289 voters were registered for the election, while 9,351,539 citizens cast their ballots. Preliminary voter turnout reached 74.08%, Kazinform reports.

The Adilet party secured a commanding lead with 6,528,948 votes, or 71.17% of the total.

The Auyl Party ranked second with 574,621 votes, accounting for 6.26%, followed by Respublica with 509,631 votes, or 5.56%.

The Ak Zhol Democratic Party received 478,083 votes, representing 5.21%, while the National Social Democratic Party secured 469,058 votes, or 5.11%.

The People’s Party of Kazakhstan received 285,395 votes, equivalent to 3.11%.

The Baytaq Green Party garnered 97,751 votes, or 1.07% of the ballots cast.

Meanwhile, 2.51% of voters selected the “against all” option.

The preliminary figures follow the release of three exit polls conducted after Kazakhstan’s landmark elections to the new unicameral Qurultay. Final results are expected to be confirmed by the Central Election Commission.
