Kazakhstan’s Flag Flies High in Manhattan to Celebrate Republic Day

In the heart of Manhattan’s financial district, a special ceremony has been held to raise the National Flag of Kazakhstan in honor of Kazakhstan’s Republic Day, marking a proud moment for the Kazakh community and city officials alike.

The event, organized by the Kazakh Embassy in the US, gathered representatives from the New York Mayor’s Office, the diplomatic corps, the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the UN, the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in New York, and members of the Kazakh diaspora, including students, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Adding significance this year, New York City officially proclaimed Kazakhstan Heritage Day to coincide with Republic Day, a proclamation signed on behalf of Mayor Eric Adams, recognizing Kazakhstan’s cultural contributions and the strong friendship between Kazakhstan and the US.

Charles Diamond, Special Counsel for International Affairs at the Mayor’s Office, praised the Kazakh community’s role in promoting cultural dialogue, while Kazakh professionals like Galiya Tleuova of Sony highlighted the positive impact of young Kazakhs abroad.

The celebration also featured a heartfelt musical program: American musician Jeff Gersh performed on the Kazakh dombra, and Kazakh artist Gulzar Gabman brought emotional Kazakh songs to the stage-symbolizing friendship and cultural ties between the two nations.

Consul General Rauan Tleulin expressed gratitude for New York’s support and emphasized the proclamation as a meaningful recognition of the Kazakh community’s vibrant role in city life.

This celebration follows a related Republic Day roundtable held in Seoul focusing on Kazakhstan-South Korea strategic partnership, showcasing Kazakhstan’s growing international engagement.
