Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan Ink $60M Deal to Boost Oilseed Exports

Kazakhstan’s National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) and Uzbekistan’s Fayz Oil Imports have signed a $60 million cooperation deal to boost the export of oil and fat products.

Under the new agreement, Fayz Oil Imports will purchase Kazakh oilseed products from NOPA members, reinforcing Uzbekistan’s position as one of Kazakhstan’s top five importers in this sector, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Trade between the two countries surged in 2024-2025, with Kazakh exports of vegetable oils and high-protein feed to Uzbekistan reaching $349 million - an 82 per cent increase over the previous season.

Kazakhstan now dominates the Central Asian market, supplying 65 per cent of Uzbekistan’s vegetable oil (up from 13 per cent in 2017) and 74 per cent in Tajikistan. The country also fully meets regional demand for sunflower meal and cake, vital ingredients in poultry and livestock feed.

“NOPA exports to over 20 countries, with Kazakhstan’s sunflower oil exports 1.5 times greater than the total imports of all Central Asian nations combined. We are ready to meet the entire region’s demand,” the association said.
