Kazakhstan’s Gas Future Gets Boost with QazaqGaz–Shell Alliance

QazaqGaz and Shell Kazakhstan have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on gas master planning, signaling a new chapter in Kazakhstan’s energy strategy.

The signing took place at the international forum Geoscience & Exploration Central Asia between Alibek Zhamauov, Chairman of the Management Board at QazaqGaz, and Suzanne Coogan, Senior Vice President and Chair of Shell in Kazakhstan, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Under the agreement, both companies will form a technical working group of experts to study Kazakhstan’s gas sector in depth. The collaboration aims to optimize supply capacity and explore new opportunities as domestic demand rises.

Coogan highlighted the strategic role of natural gas in boosting Kazakhstan’s energy security and supporting economic growth during the energy transition.

Zhamauov emphasized that the memorandum lays the groundwork for further cooperation and strengthens long-term planning for Kazakhstan’s gas sector.
