At the V Ulttyq Qurultay in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed the ongoing crisis of the Aral Sea, emphasizing its importance on a global scale.
Tokayev highlighted that the issue of the Aral Sea extends far beyond Kazakhstan’s borders and remains a matter of significant international concern, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
He stressed that saving the Aral Sea is not just a national task but an urgent challenge for all humanity. The president pointed out that he has consistently raised the issue at various international forums.
Reflecting on Kazakhstan's efforts, Tokayev noted that years of focused work have helped preserve the Northern Aral Sea. He also mentioned that it has been five years since the restoration project began, marking important progress in the region.
The president urged continued systematic efforts to restore the Aral region's ecosystem and called on the international community to join forces in addressing this critical environmental issue.
