Kazakhstan is looking to expand exports of processed goods to Switzerland across 30 product categories as the two countries seek to deepen trade and investment ties.
Kazakh Trade and Integration Minister Arman Shakkaliyev discussed opportunities to boost bilateral economic cooperation with Swiss Ambassador Christina Honegger ahead of his upcoming working visit to Switzerland, Qazinform reports.
Bilateral trade reached $1.12 billion from January to August 2026, marking a 19.3% increase compared with the same period last year. Kazakhstan’s exports to Switzerland rose by 15.4% to $820.5 million during the first eight months of the year.
Shakkaliyev said Kazakhstan has the potential to expand shipments of processed products across 30 categories. Promising sectors include metallurgy, food processing, petrochemicals, mechanical engineering and chemicals.
Potential export products include aluminium, rolled steel, ferroalloys, sunflower oil, flour, pasta and confectionery.
Ambassador Honegger supported efforts to strengthen economic relations and reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to expanding bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
The talks took place ahead of the 12th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Switzerland Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, scheduled for October 22 in Bern.
Switzerland is one of Kazakhstan’s largest investors. Over the past 20 years, Swiss investment in Kazakhstan has exceeded $36 billion, while around 400 companies with Swiss capital currently operate in the country.
Switzerland was also considering launching regular direct flights to Kazakhstan.
