Kazakhstan and UNESCO are set to sign a memorandum aimed at strengthening cooperation in disaster risk prevention and early warning systems.
The initiative was announced during a panel session at an environmental summit in Astana, where experts discussed regional collaboration on reducing disaster risks across Central Asia, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The discussion focused on improving early warning mechanisms and enhancing preparedness for natural hazards such as floods, droughts, and other climate-related emergencies.
UNESCO representative in Kazakhstan, Amir Pirich, noted that Central Asia remains one of the most vulnerable regions in the world to climate change impacts, highlighting the urgent need for coordinated action.
