Oil Exports from Kazakhstan's Tengiz Field via CPC Uninterrupted - Tengizchevroil

Tengizchevroil (TCO), the operator of Kazakhstan's Tengiz field, informed that the required maintenance work at the field has been completed, and oil exports through the main route (via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium) are continuing without interruptions, The Caspian Post reports citing Interfax.

"To ensure safe and reliable operations, Tengizchevroil has completed the necessary maintenance work at the existing Second Generation Plant," TCO said in response to an inquiry from Interfax.

"TCO's exports of crude oil through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium remain uninterrupted," it said.

The company declined to comment on whether the unplanned maintenance at the Second Generation Plant affected production figures.

"TCO does not comment on current or future production levels, as well as specific details of its operational activities," the company said.

On October 26, 2024, production at the Second Generation Plant at the Tengiz field was partially suspended for maintenance work on the E-401A heat recovery steam generator of Unit 400. During an inspection of the equipment, localized through-corrosion damage was detected. Repairs at the Tengiz field, which began in October due to the detected damage, were expected to be completed by November 23, the Energy Ministry said. Ultimately, according to the ministry, the repairs were finished by January 15, 2025, and the launch of operations at full capacity is scheduled for January 18.

The Tengiz oil and gas field boasting oil reserves of 3.1 billion tonnes is one of the largest in Kazakhstan. It is located in the Atyrau region. According to the latest company data, 14.4 million tonnes of oil (114.6 million barrels) were produced at the field in January-June 2024, down 3.4% from the first half of 2023.

The shareholders of Tengizchevroil are Chevron (50%), ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc. (25%), Kazakhstan through the national company KazMunayGas (20%), and Lukoil (5%).
