President Tokayev: Kazakhstan Affirms Switzerland as Key European Ally

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has emphasized Kazakhstan’s enduring and robust relationship with Switzerland during a recent meeting, describing Switzerland as a reliable and trusted partner in Europe.

Reflecting on his official visit to Switzerland in 2021, President Tokayev highlighted that the trip laid a solid foundation for deepening bilateral relations, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

He noted that the current visit by the Swiss parliamentary delegation demonstrates a mutual commitment to further expanding comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

The president underscored the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in enhancing mutual understanding and broadening bilateral ties.

Filippo Lombardi, Coordinator of the Switzerland-Kazakhstan Parliamentary Friendship Group, expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and reiterated Switzerland’s strong interest in expanding partnerships and implementing joint initiatives with Kazakhstan.

Discussions also focused on future opportunities for trade and investment cooperation between Astana and Bern, as well as coordinated efforts within international organizations.

In a related development, President Tokayev recently signed decrees appointing new ambassadors to Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Tunisia, signaling Kazakhstan’s continued commitment to strengthening its diplomatic presence globally.
