Camera traps in East Kazakhstan’s Katon-Karagai State National Nature Park have recorded rare footage of snow leopards.

According to the Forestry and Wildlife Committee of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture, one video shows a male snow leopard approaching a camera trap, sniffing it and then walking away, The Caspian Post reports, citing Qazinform.

Another camera captured a female snow leopard with three cubs, with the young animals seen playing beside their mother.

The committee noted that the footage is particularly remarkable because while one snow leopard turned a camera away, another camera trap successfully captured a family of the rare and elusive animals.
