Russia’s Federal Security Service has intercepted an attempt to smuggle military engines from Russia to Kazakhstan.
Authorities say a Moscow-based businessman purchased nine diesel engines in the Kurgan region through intermediaries, intending to ship them to Kazakhstan, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
The engines “can be used in the production of military equipment,” the Federal Security Service stated.
The entrepreneur did not obtain an export license and submitted false information on customs declarations. He now faces up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to 1 million rubles.
