Tengizchevroil Halts Oil Output at Tengiz, Korolevskoye

Kazakhstan's Tengizchevroil (TCO) has temporarily suspended oil production at the Tengiz and Korolevskoye fields after disruptions affected parts of its power distribution systems.

The suspension was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure operational safety. TCO stressed that no injuries were reported and that all personnel remain safe, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

“Our priority is the safe resolution of the situation,” the company said, adding that technical specialists are currently investigating the cause of the malfunction. TCO also noted that it is working closely with government authorities to minimize any potential impact.

The company emphasized that the Tengiz field and all production facilities remain secure and under reliable protection.

Earlier, a transformer fire occurred at the Tengiz field. The blaze was quickly extinguished, no casualties were reported, and operations initially continued as normal.

Tengizchevroil LLP is the operator of the giant Tengiz oil and gas field, one of the largest in the world. Its shareholders include Chevron (50 per cent), ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc. (25 per cent), Kazakhstan’s national oil company KazMunayGas (20 per cent), and LUKOIL (5 per cent).
