Tokayev Offers Condolences to Sri Lanka’s President After Deadly Floods

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a letter of condolences to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake following the deadly floods that have swept across the country in recent days.

In his message, Tokayev expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life caused by the disaster, conveying Kazakhstan’s solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka during this difficult time, The Caspian Post reports, citing Akorda.

Sri Lanka declared a state of emergency as severe flooding and landslides caused widespread destruction across Colombo and surrounding areas. The crisis forms part of a broader wave of extreme weather across the region, with at least 954 people reported dead in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia due to tropical storms and related disasters.
