After Celebrating Independence, Kyrgyz President to Outline SCO Vision in China

Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Sagynbek Abdumutalip has said that Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov will undertake a working visit to the People’s Republic of China from August 31 to September 3, following an official invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The visit will begin after President Japarov participates in Independence Day celebrations in Jalal-Abad, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

While in China, the Kyrgyz leader will attend the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tianjin. The summit is expected to focus on expanding multilateral cooperation within the SCO framework, with discussions covering regional security, political stability, and economic development among member states.

One of the key outcomes of the summit will be the transfer of the SCO chairmanship to Kyrgyzstan. President Japarov will present his country’s priorities and proposals for the upcoming year, setting the agenda for regional cooperation under Kyrgyz leadership.

The event will also see the signing of the Tianjin Declaration, alongside other agreements aimed at strengthening collaboration in fields such as politics, energy, and trade among SCO nations.

Additionally, President Japarov will participate in commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II and is scheduled to meet President Xi Jinping for bilateral talks focused on enhancing the Kyrgyzstan-China relations.
