Chinese Medical Technologies Expand Into Kyrgyzstan’s Healthcare System

Advanced Chinese diagnostic and treatment technologies are being introduced at the China-Kyrgyzstan Friendship Hospital in Osh, bringing new medical capabilities to patients in southern Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyz doctor Erkinjon Farrukh recently returned from specialized training in China and has already treated several patients with neurological conditions, according to Xinhua.

He said his training in China had “laid a solid foundation for providing specialized medical services at home.”

The China-Kyrgyzstan Friendship Hospital, opened in 2017, has become a platform for regular telemedicine consultations, scientific exchanges and professional training between medical specialists from the two countries.

Over the past three years, around 30 Kyrgyz doctors have completed advanced training in Xinjiang. After returning home, many have become leading specialists at local medical institutions.

Cooperation between Chinese medical institutions and Central Asian countries has also expanded since the beginning of 2026.

Academic exchanges in oncology have been held in Almaty, Uzbekistan has hosted training courses on traditional Chinese medicine, while Kazakh orthopedic specialists have received training in robot-assisted joint replacement technologies.

According to Xinjiang Medical University, its affiliated hospitals treated nearly 6,000 foreign patients in 2025, marking a 23% increase from the previous year.

The region also received 25 groups of specialists and 97 experts who provided technical and clinical support.

Chai Ling, secretary of the university’s Party Committee, said cooperation with Central Asia has evolved from “sporadic contacts” into systematic planning focused on joint platforms and medical training.
