Kyrgyzstan-China Ties Enter “Golden Period”

Kyrgyzstan-China relations have reached a historically high level, with President Sadyr Japarov describing the current stage of cooperation as a new “golden period” of bilateral ties.

Japarov made the remarks while thanking Chinese President Xi Jinping for his state visit, according to 24.kg.

“Today, cooperation between our countries has entered a new, golden period of development,” Japarov said.

Japarov noted that China is one of Kyrgyzstan’s top foreign policy priorities and has become a major trading and investment partner for the country.

During Xi’s visit, the two leaders signed a treaty on perpetual good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation.

Japarov said the agreement would provide a strong foundation for further developing the countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership.

The Kyrgyz president also highlighted the importance of joint projects being implemented under China's Belt and Road Initiative.

Among the key priorities are the development of transport infrastructure and the opening of new border crossing points, which are expected to strengthen connectivity and trade between the two countries.
