Kyrgyz Leader Nominates New Chief of Security Service

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov has nominated Zhumgalbek Shabdanbekov as chairman of the State Committee for National Security, submitting his candidacy to the Jogorku Kenesh for parliamentary approval as part of a broader government reshuffle.

Japarov also proposed Urmatbek Shamyrkanov for the post of Minister of Emergency Situations and Akyl Toktobaev for Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

The parliament’s committee on constitutional legislation has already approved their nominations, moving them closer to official appointment.

In addition, the parliamentary committee on industrial policy, transport, fuel and energy, architecture, and construction approved the candidacy of Talantbek Soltobaev as Minister of Transport and Communications.
