Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan are taking steps to strengthen transport and logistics cooperation.
Almaz Turgunbaev, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan, met with Abdul Haidari, Deputy Minister of Road Transport and Civil Aviation of Afghanistan, in Kabul to discuss expanding international cargo transportation, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
During the meeting, Kyrgyzstan proposed exchanging 1,000 transport permits for 2026, a proposal that Afghanistan supported. Both sides also explored the possibility of signing a bilateral transit agreement to facilitate smoother cargo movement.
The discussion included measures to ensure cargo security and highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s interest in using transit routes through Afghanistan to Iran and Pakistan, aiming to enhance regional trade connectivity and economic cooperation.
