Kyrgyzstan Engages in High-Level Talks with EU on Security and Global Threats

The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry has stated that Deputy Foreign Minister Meder Abakirov took part in the High-Level Dialogue on Policy and Security between Central Asia and the EU, where participants discussed the evolving international security landscape and global challenges.

The EU was represented by Olof Skoog, Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service (EEAS), The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

During the meeting, delegates engaged in comprehensive discussions on key issues of regional and interregional cooperation, with a focus on the EU's ongoing programmatic activities in Central Asia.

A central theme of the talks was enhancing collaboration to foster regional stability and trust. Specific areas of concern included counterterrorism efforts, combating violent extremism, tackling illicit drug trafficking, and advancing peaceful solutions to the situation in Afghanistan.

The participants also outlined a series of future initiatives aimed at strengthening political dialogue, expanding trade and investment, and promoting sustainable development. Environmental protection and climate change mitigation were highlighted as priority areas for joint action.
