Kyrgyzstan Issues Storm Warning Over High Avalanche Risk

A storm warning has been issued in Kyrgyzstan amid rising risks of avalanches in mountainous regions.

The Kyrgyz Ministry of Emergency Situations warned that expected precipitation combined with rising temperatures between May 7-12 could trigger dangerous snow avalanches, snow drifts, and icy road conditions across several key routes, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

The most critical areas include the Balykchi-Kazarmán-Jalal-Abad highway (kilometers 326-349) near the Kok-Art Pass, as well as the Karakol-Enilchek road (kilometers 70-90) at the Chon-Ashuu Pass.

Traffic police officers are urging drivers to exercise extreme caution while traveling through avalanche-prone zones. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe distance of at least 500 meters between vehicles when passing through high-risk mountain sections.
